I love the idea of making my own Sharpie decorated coffee mugs, plates, or wine glasses–just using Sharpie markers or paint markers. But the problem with most of the projects is that the hardwork can wash off if you place it in the dishwasher. That isn’t gonna work for me, ’cause I always use the dishwasher and don’t have time to carefully handwash every piece. So, when I came across this great blog post by Scribbles for Emily, I was so excited to share it with you. She took the time to test out and create this DIY Sharpie Marker Mug Project, and yes it is dishwasher safe. Wahoo! I am busting out some oil based Sharpies and hitting the dollar store for some cheap glasses! Here is the link to her great step by step instructions for the DIY Marker Plates and Glasses using Sharpie markers.
TIP – Make sure you get the right kind of Sharpie markers – you want the OIL based Sharpies, not the other kind. Also, put the glass ware into your cool oven BEFORE you turn it on, and leave them IN the oven until they cool. This step will be sure the ink is really on there and won’t wash off. Have fun making your own Sharpie plates and glasses!
